whats a standpipe. i got my bulkhead and the opening to it is 1.75 inches in diameter. the silicone i bought was contractors SCS1000 sealant. will that work.

Stand pipe is vertical pipe set in bulkhead up ...sets water height in box and lessens noise...Do serach on Durso and Stockman...
Bulkhead has gasket to seal and does not require silicone...
Now that you have the box..cut the old one off and put the new onew on...
Tighten bulkhead in place, add standpipe and attach drain line to W/D...

so all I do is put the pipe in the bulkhead. top off my tank to the holes and let the water flow. the water will flow to the wet/dry. and my other question that how would i put a hose on a 2inch tube and the same pipe on a 1 inch tube.

They make adaptors and bushings for that sort of thing...Check the Hdwr Store...

Get a threaded bulkhead, and correct adaptors, and you will not have to silicone standpipe...You will want it removeable to make prelimenary adjustments.
Bulkhead screws to box....standpipe screws or slips into bulkhead "in" box....hose connects to bottom of bulkhead with hose barb adaptor ...
