stacking live rock

I have a 125 gl FOWLR, till I get proper lighting. It's been running for about 8 months. I have 100 lbs of live rock in it that's been sitting on the substrate. I am getting 60 of base rock tomorrow so I will be rearranging everything. My question is, should I stack the base rock on the substrate or on the bottom of the tank. I can't seem to find a clear cut answer and was wondering what you guys have done. Pros/cons?
Thanks,
Carmen

you should always stack live rock on the bottom. There are many creatures and fish that like to dig. If they did under the rock it could tip over. I have always been told to make sure the base rocks are touching the bottom. I hope this helps

You can build little PVC tables that sit on the bottom but your LR will be at the top of your substraight

If you are going to be careful about not getting any sand diggers then you can place them on top of your rocks. However, be aware that sand does compact a little as the air bubbles find their way out alone with actual weight and water pressure. So you can have a shift even without them. Like stated before there are several ways to get all your rock above sand, safest way is right on the bottom.
