Stacking Live Rock

When placing live rock into a tank, is it better to just stack it on top of each other or use that silicone to hold the pieces together to keep them from falling over? I would like to make caves with the rock, I just don't want them falling over. Thanks

I don't glue mine... but I only have one cave. If you do want to glue them epoxy will work better than silicone, but getting them apart will be tough.

i just stacked mine so it would be easier to shift for coral placement, or to just change the landscape.
if you glue them that will be alot harder

IMO don't glue the rock together. At some point in the future you may need to take the rock out for some reason. Mine was to catch a SOB fish that I bought. I could not have done that if the rock was glued together. Also at some pint in the future you may want to rearrange you rock.

yeah, you'll need to rearrange the rock. there's no way you'll be happy with it after you set it up the first time. (if you do, then you're lucky)

Silicon is harder to use. You need semi-dry surfaces. Underwater 2-part epoxy works well, but as mentioned before, a real bear to break apart. Another way to do it is to use black plastic cable ties. If you really need to secure two pieces, you can use a masonary drill bit and then run the cable ties through it. After your coralline algea grows/spreads, the cable ties become invisible.
Good Luck
