Stand Height

Can someone help me out here,
I don't want my tank tip over and break, I want to be able to see it without bending down too much, I was thinking that a 40 inch high stand would be about right.... The stand will be 50" x 22" x 40". L x W x H. The tank is a 75 gallon that is 48x18x20. I also want to have a canopy which will be anywhere from 6-12 inches tall.
Is that gonna be safe or should I lower it a little bit?
What are you guys' stand heights?

it should be fine. i originally wanted a 30" high stand, but cost so much, so i went with a 24". another option you can go with is a higher tank, like 30" , with 24" stand

Well I am building this myself, so I wanted to be safe and make sure that I didn't need to worry about it tipping over.

My husband built a 48" tall stand for my 120 gallon and it's working out great! I'll point him in the direction of this thread... maybe he can be a little more help. :)

just a thought. If you are really tall, a tall tank is no big deal. I made my first one tall and then discovered I couldn't reach the bottom unless I drug out the ladder. It got to be such a pain, I had a new stand built that was a little lower, and had to re-design my canopy so I could reach into the tank. Maintenance is so much easier now.

Make sure that the stand its self is level and that the surface the tank will sit on is level. It is imperitive that the resting surface is flush all the way around. If it is sitting on a joint, and the joint isnt flush, it will eventually break the seal on the tank. Easiest way to avoid this is to make your resting surface a solid piece of plywood...that way you have no joints. If your cabinet is square and the resting surface is flush, then you should be fine.
