I ahve read where some people have to remove support on their stands to insert sumps..BUT they put it back
SOOO IMO....If you take it out.....after the sump is in....put it back...SW tanks with all the rock and sand WEIGH A LOT

I have the exact 75g tank & stand (i just broke it down so it aint running anymore) - and I used the 20L for a sump. Do NOT cut the midframe - I got my 20L under it by knocking out the 3 boards on one side. they are glued and stapled but will knock out easy. Only tricky part is there are a couple satples that go thru the front & back faces into the #1 & #3 sideboards and the only way to remove these is just cut them by using a large flat blade screwdriver as a chisel and just shear them. Once these staples are cut the boards knock out very easy - just use a little $1.25 bottle elmers wood glue and some 3/4" wood screws to re-assemble the boards wet weiththe glue and the stand will be good as new.
Look for these staples about 18" up from the bottom, and they go thru the front face and into the end sideboard. my stand only has 1 staple or tiny nail on the front & back about 18" up from the bottom. From the front it just looks like a tiny hole on the left or right side on the same face the doors are on....when you find this hole and look at the end - espically with a screwdriver wedged in the end - you'll see the tiny nail running thru the front face into the end boards. Once these are sheared - the 3 end boards just push (with a little effort & a mallet) into the stand. It's best to take a piece of tape and label each one 1,2,3 and which end is (UP) cause they are stapled from the inside, and since they were glued - a little wood may break off with them, but it all glues&screws up after your done,
This was the easiest way I found to get my 20L under the thing, with the least ammount of damage - and I did mine with a full 75g tank on top of it.....Was just REALLY careful, and spent a couple hours on it.
lemme know if you want pictures, i can take &post some of mine

the vertical mid bords (center frame shown here and the one in back) seemed more attached with staples than I wanted to screw with - that's why I went thru one end and just knocked those 3 boards out. Then the 20L just slid right in.

hmm i was thinkin of this last night well laying in bed lol...Im thinkin ill take the tank off and try to go in from the top! If this isnt succesful, i guess ill have to try it ur way tang. So i need to take flathead screw driver to some staples. All the staples i saw in the center back brace were in pretty good and deep. Ur saying the ones on the end boards arent that bad? I have gorillia glue and some more screws...so re attachin wouldnt be the prob i dont think. I have wood glue somewhere lol i just have to search for it. Thxs tang!

To my horror after everyone helped to design my sump and refugium so it would fit under my tank...(I had the exact same issue you have) it still didn't fit.
My boss came over (LOL..out of pity) and removed the front beam...I was horrified! My 90g was full and running. He showed me the center brace IN THE FRONT...it did not touch the bottom of the stand or the top, it was stapled in and there just for show. I bit my nails to nubs as he removed it..he put my new sump in and replaced the brace..glueing the bottom because my new sump gave no room to restaple it in..that came lose on the bottom and is lose to this day.

The staples on the end boards were shot from the inside, so when U knock an endboard out (in actually) the staples come with the little board. The only little staples or nails u gotta sheer the ones from the front into the #1 & #3 endboards. If you wanna step by step, i'll post one for ya. just lemme know

I couldn't go in thru the top or even try it, as the tank was full, with critters in it, so lemme know if you can go in thru the top....my 75 is broke down, all the guts went into the 90g, and the tank is running with some bleach in it, as it's next gonna go into storage with the other empties. Honestly I dunno if the 20l will go in thru the top but if it dont, say so and I'll post how I did mine.

Good O - when I drain the bleach&water out of my 75 this weekend and get it all broke down so it can go to storage, I'll just pull the 20L thru the top of the stand, rather than knocking the same side back out again. Thx for the data.

The brace can easily be removed to fit it in and put back into place....
