star polyp coral

I brought home a star polyp yesterday. At the store it was "tall" and swaying, but since I've brought it home it has shrunk done almost completely into the rock. I temperature acclimated it. Today it was up a little bit again but now it's shrunk back down. I have the same lighting, wattage, and size tank as the store did. This is my first coral so I don't know if this normal.

dont know exactly, but my star polyps took a while to come out as well...probably just need to give em some more time...mine took at least a week before they started being completely normal

I have some green star polyps, They glow awsome under the blue lighting. I just peeled some off some rock, super glued them. They have not come out yet. They will if a few days from past experiences with them.

Most ALL corals (with some exceptions) take a few days - sometimes more - to COME OUT! Have no fear --- unless this goes on for more than a week...
Good Luck

Huh? All star polyps I have known and seen can not recede back into the rocks.

They recede into their "matts" My green star polyps took about a day or two to fully come out. It is just getting used to your lighting. I just added a leather toad stool coral that is starting to peak out. I know it can be ruff. When you buy things you wanna see how they look in yer tank. Just give it a day or two, I'm confident it will come out as long as your water parims are good.

I didn't glue mine. Just put it in a spot it would stay, and over time it will connect itself. Glue, amung other things (rubber band) will work as well.
