i Just bought some green star polyps last week and i was wondering how much water flow over them do i need??
i put them under my protein skimmer return spout and they seem to be ok.... they r all out but they r being pushed around pretty good.
is this ok? or do i have them under and area with too much turbulance??
thanks for the help

If they continue to stay open and look okay, I guess it's cool. Just keep an eye on them. :D

Well, I have done some research on star polyps and they all came to be that they like moderate to high flow and like to be placed high in the aquariam, with a strong amount of light. I have star polyps myself and I keep them high in the tank with moderate to high flow, mostly to the high side though.

Mine are growing like crazy and are in a low/med flow area... you can see them sway just a little. When my second PH kicks on they sway a little more though.
This rock was only 2/3 covered when I got it a month ago. Now it is starting to spread to the next rock to the left.

My LFS has a colony right in front of a PH that whips around like a hurricane. They stay open and look nice, but they haven't spread at all in 3 months.

what kinda light set up do u have WAX?
cuz i was wondering if mine would grow over other things too??
when i got them last week they r over a piece of tonga branch with 2 seperate branches that were covered and today i decided to cut them and make two seperate branches to put on each side of the tank....
will they grow fast or not?
i have (from what i just recently calculated) a 92g tank i thought it was 100 but the internal dimensions say otherwise.
i have 265watts of VHO bulbs will this be adecuate both peices i have set high in the tank like 3/4th's the way to the top
thanks

Agreed.... When they get whipped around they may look nice, but they seem not to thrive as much. IMO :D

well looking at mine i think the one set is under a medoerate flow cuz its not totally getting thrashed around more of a on and off movement.... the other branch is under a low current i guess ill see what happens

I've got 300W of VHO ( a lot of light on a 29 ). I don't think you would need that much to make them spread, I hear they are pretty easy.
