my swf.com order came in today
after acclimation, everything is fine (cherub angel already cruisin tank and bitin LR and maroon took straight to his bta
)
my supposedly GSP started to open up...but they aren't green at all....they are completely purple, even under actinics....does it take a while for the 'green' to come in, which i doubt, or did swf.com send me the wrong coral

Does it really matter whether they are green or purple?? Just curious. I would love to have soething purple in my tank-lots of things are green and the star pollyps do come in different colors-different lighting will make them appear to be brown, green, or perhaps even PURPLE!

joojoo, I would imagine you are only seeing the mat that the star polyps come from. The mat is purple with little knobs all over. The GSP comes out of the knobs. I have never seen purple star polyps. I'm not an expert, but I've seen pretty much all commonly available corals and that isn't one of them.
It will most likely take at least a day or two for the GSP to come out. They don't like being messed with and will often shut for long periods of time just from being touched, let alone shipped in a bag all day.

Hats off to you, Hagfish. It never occured to me that joojoo might be looking at the tubes, not the actual polyps!! They are kind of a maroon purple though, not real purple like grapesand blueberries and purple crayons!

I've seen fleshy peachish pinkish brownish star polyps. I've never seen them purple though. If they look as purple as they do in that pic in real life I'd say you got lucky and got something a little unusual.
Any chance you're near St. Louis? I could trade you some green GSP.
