Star Polyps

Will star polyps spread only to live rock? any type of rock ? i remember reading somewhere that they will even spread on glass ?

Yes, I went to a lfs that had a large portion of the black glass covered in star polyps.

In my tank they spread up the glass on the back of my tank. They spread like weeds under the right conditions. I was scraping them off after a while!

what would be the optimum parameters to induce the rapid spread of star polyps ?
