Starfish help

I have a 10g tank with live rock and some snails and 6 hermits. I bought a sand sifting starfish before i had read the post on here about them being not easy. Any advice on aiding and keeping the starfish alive and well and not hungry?

There is really nothing that can be done in that size tank, in most cases. You can hope you got the wrong species- and try and feed it. But in general the star will probably die in that size tank in 6 - 12 months, though I suspect sooner in that size tank. :( I would return it, personally, or find someone with a much larger system.

would you guys recommend i just switch it over to a reef set-up. i am gonna take the starfish back. oh and what about my clown goby? is he cool in my 10g? he is only maybe like 3/4"

Your Goby should be fine if the rock has cycled. If not I'd bring him back.
Take the star fish back though, it will starve.

yeah i took the starfish back. what do you mean if the rock has cycled? sorry if these questions are dumb i am new to such a small tank. i had a 65g reef like 8 years ago so i know some but it was really just trusting what the fish store told me.
