just noticed that my little orange star is missing one arm. Torn off or something? Do they grow back?
Thanks

It will grow back as long as the star stays healthy. But dropping of arms is usually due to stress. Make sure your water conditions are in check and that nothing is bothering him in the tank. It is possibly a warning sign to you that things aren't quite right. Fix any problems and the little guy will probably be fine.

Did you just get him? Sometimes if you acclimate stars too fast then they get shocked from the salinity (or something like that) difference and an arm blows up.

I was reading in my Biology Book yesterday studying and came across an interesting fact that some may want to know. Here it goes " In sea stars of the genus Linckia, a whole new individual may develope from an isolated arm. Thus, a single animal with 5 arms, if broken apart, could asexually give rise to five offspring." I found that to be pretty interesting. I wont be trying it out anytime soon. But if anyone does let me know how it turns out.
