Starfish question...

How much and how many times a day should I be feeding my brown serpent star? Apparently I'm not doing it enough as I just watched him wolf down two of my larger hermit crabs.
I feed him a hunk of shrimp about 3/4 the size of his actual body (not including the arms) around dinner time.

I've had my choc. chip star about a year now and only eats about once a week....he seems to know that when he comes to the front of the tank he will be fed. I give him either a piece of shrimp or fish about the size of my fingernail. Just how big is your star? Feeding him every day seems like a lot.

he is small, I just got him on wednesday. I watched him eat two hermits and now I noticed that I can't find my emarald crabs.

You can feed once a day, or every other day, a variety of foods - shrimp pellets, pieces of shrimp, krill, squid, clam or even spirulina tablets.
