There are many kinds of starfish. If you want one that look great I recommend a Linka. I have a Blue Linka and it's awesome. Tuff to keep but worth it.

I heard that some starfish eat corals, we have a bunch of corals going in our tank and don't want to hurt any of them.

Where do you do your shopping at? I live near Cincinnati and wonder what lfs you like to go to. I go to Wet Pets a lot and Just about Fish.

We go to both of those stores. Monfort is great too though, they have beautiful corals and a lot of there fish are grown in house. They seem to be very knowledgable too and will not just sell you anything. Honest owner!! and very nice. They have been in business since 1982, which definitly says something. They are on Colerain

i have a sand-sifting star (that's what the LFS had in their coral tank, and recommended) and it's sort of a sandy gray mixed with white... i don't know if that's what it's really called, but it doesn't go anywhere near my corals, it does a good job keeping the sand looking nice, and it's actually a good-looking starfish in itself. i give the sand-sifting star a recommendation.

Monfort is great too. I forgot about that place. For some reason I like to go to Wet Pets. The owner there is very knowledgeable and will give you one on one time.

nicks a great guy, he used to be a biology teacher at cincinnati public schools, and if your good you can really wheel and deal with him.

Really? He was a teacher? He doesn't come across as being that kind of person. He wheels and deals? I don't usually try that. I see the prices on the tank and go with them. Maybe next time I'm in I'll have to give that a try! Thanks!

I've heard some people say he's a prick, but so far I haven't seen that side of him. Do you like him? My tank is a 125 gallon reef tank.

No pictures at the moment. I do have to agree and that he knows his stuff, but some have warned me about his behavior. Like I said, so far so good with him, but I have been paying the prices on the tanks. How much will he go down on prices? I've also heard that he tends to give women better pricing. Hmpf!

Take a girl with you, and he will hook you up. I knew this and mine came with me, all she had to do was ask some questions and we were doing better!!
Try out Monfort, that guy has some great stuff. If you need any Nemo's he is the place to go!! He has been birthing them the past few months and has some very healthy looking ones. also has some great looking corals, and a thing for girlfriends

I will add one more thing about the woman thing: I do see a girl there sometimes (pretty hot too I might say:rolleyes: ) but I don't know if she is a customer or works there. She sometimes hangs out by the front desk, but has never tried to help me. I'll have to ask him the next time I'm in if she is an employee.

Take a girl with me and get better pricing? Oh man! I will probably stop in there this weekend and see what is new. I'll try to wheel and deal with him and see if that works.
I'll go to Monfort too since I'll be in the area. I like Just About Fish too, but they have moved and I haven't been into the new store yet. Have you?

we also have an orange linka, it doesnt go anywhere near the corals and adds a nice bright color to the tank. They say they are easier to keep than the blue linka, and I havent had any troubles.
