Harlequin shrimp would work, but a 29gal, I wouldn't think, could support a whole starfish rotting away. You'd have to have a couple starfish in a separate tank, and cut and feed arms to the shrimp.

Serpents would be my first thought, simply because they are eager feeders if acclimated properly. No matter how many years go by, I still crack up when the filters go off, all the arms that star waving blindly from the rocks. They look like convicts.
My experience with brittles is that they are a little more delicate.

Smaller brittles maybe..the bigger guys are troopers.
I have a really really really big brittle in my 12 gallon nano. He does such an amazing job in there.

I also have brittles....1 in the 29G, 1 in the 54G, and 2 in the 225G......the one in the 29G is the biggest though...LOL...for now anyways

They're an amazing addition to the cleanup crew and probably do more work then any other animal I have. Any extra food is quickly picked up by the thing. I honestly wouldn't want to have a tank without a large brittle/serpent.

I do have a serpent in my 225G also.....very rarely see it.....once in a while I see a tentacle...LOL...BUT if something (like a fish) dies and disappears.....I have no concerns over it being "taken care of"

if you mean ...seen by us.....I have to say the brittle.....I never see the serpent....as I said before....sometimes I see a leg....but the brittle arms will come out when I feed, and I use tongs and place a piece of scallop on an arm...and it will wrap around ity and take it in to its mouth

Both will probably try to hide from light but will usually come out during feeding time.
If I had to pick one that was most visible during the day--probably a serpent.
