starfish

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a starfish that has 6 legs with one of the legs having another leg growing out the side of it, about an inch down from the tip of the leg. I ordered a burgandy starfish and that is how he came. He looks funky.

Yes I've head of this. It's common for the burgendy starfish.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think that at one time it got hurt and this is how it healed?

Not really sure, why that is. I think I read it on wetwebmedia.com. There is a lot of information on there about starfish.
Recently, I have not had good luck with my starfish.
I had a choc chip star for quite some time and then I moved him to a new tank and he died a week later. I wish I hadn't moved him, but hindsight is 20/20. He turned to mush right before he died. Yuck!
I love starfish but seems it's extremely hard to find information about them.
I acclimated the star fish over a period of time, so I don't think it was that. I'm thinking that if nitrates in your tank get to high it can turn your starfish to mush. Not to hijack your thread but has anyone think that is possible?
Starfish are awesome but so many questions seem to go unanswered about them...
