start salt water tank

what do i need to do when i am starting a new salt tank i dont really know but somebody told me that i have to get bactera so i had some live rock and i do not know if that will work or not if so what else do i need befor i add fish

Buy a beginners book and learn more about the hobby because it seem to me that you're inexperienced and you would need to post a hundred ?'s before you even begin.

Not only reading books, but reading posts here on the bb. Also, try to find a good local fish store, it can be pretty hard to find a good one, but since it is you live in a pretty good sized city, it should be pretty easy. It's always fun to find a good one look up pet store or tropical fish and go around town. If just talk to someone that works there and see what they say, also look at the health of the fish, if they're all sick and nasty, keep looking.
