Start up question

My wife is starting a 20g for zoo's, softies, and some LPS. Question is: do we need to put a raw srimp in to spike the tank? There is 25# aragonite sand, 28# LR, all the water came out of my 120g. The bio wheel sat in my sump for 3 weeks. What do you think, let it go or add the shrimp? Thanks for any response.

is the live rock new like from a lfs if so then no but if it is from your tank i would just take some food and drop it in and test the water regularly to make sure it doesnt spike again.

Good question. The LR is Marshall Islands and Tonga branch, been in the LFS for about 2-3 weeks and did not stink.

well how far away is the lfs? if the rock was outta water more than an 1-2 hours then no shrimp needed. Just watch your water and make sure it spikes!

The Rock was out of water for maybe 1 hour.
