Starter Fish or Liquid Bacteria??

which is the better way to go? A local expert said the starters may end up living through the cycling and I'll never get them out, thus possibly hindering my fish selection due to compatibilities issues.
Im scratchin my head???
ANy help or share your experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I used starter bacteria, 2 green chromis, and six lbs of live rock. My 40gal cycled in a couple weeks. no long term effects were noticed using the liquid, STEVE

I used four domino damsels to cycle my 75 gallon tank. They did really well. The tank cycled in about a months time, and the dominos all grew about 3 or 4 times their original size They were almost impossible to get out when I wanted to give them back to my lfs. In fact, my smallest guy was so fast and good at hiding that I was forced to leave him in there

I guess if I wanted to remove all my rocks and decorations, I could've, but it just wasn't worth it. If he wanted to stay that bad, he deserved it GOOD LUCK!!!

I just used the liquid stuff and left my tank running and the lights on a little longer. It also took a little longer to cycle. Another way to go about it is to use clown fish instead of damsels. They aren't as territorial, aren't as fast, or as mean, so you can leave them in or not. They are a little more expensive than the damsels of course and if they don't make it, you are out a few more bucks, but they are also pretty hardy, especially if you get the tank raised ones.
