after my tank has been running successfully for the past yr and a half, it finally just crashed for reasons i dont know. Diatoms started growing everywhere, my skimmer was going crazy and foaming up like crazy, hair algea was growing everywhere etc. All of my fish have died in the past 3 days as well.
My solution is buying my own RO/DI unit and doing a 40 gallon water change (my tank is 65 gals) and cleaning all the equipment. I also bought miracle mud for my fuge. Im pissed off but at the same time im excited to start a whole new tank over again.
Leave some comments for help please

Have you ran any tests on your old water? Or put anything new into the aquarium recently? I would try to find the reason why things went south with the system you had running for over a year. Just in case that element is still in the tank. Good luck with the new start

RODI will make a huge difference, imho. mirical mud is a very good product but unless you have a rooted maco algea it will be usless. hope every thing turns out well for you

i have been using RODI water but since it is expensive and a 25 min drive, i didnt do as many water changes as i should have. Also, i added this live bacteria stuff that came in a little bottle and cost 3 bucks. The guy at the store recomended it and it said it improved natural filtration and added a slime coat to your fish. Within a few weeks my tank went to sh!t. There is no other explination for it, it has to be that bacteria stuff. I havnt tested the water in the past few days cause everything is dieing anyways. Just gotta wait to do a 40 gallon water change and start over. thanks

not a thing at all but if you are using chato as your macro algea it has no roots and there for has no way to pull the good stuff out of the mud. so the mud goes to waist.

that makes sense about the miracle mud. What he sold me wasnt called turbo start but he did mention how it works best for cycling tanks. I then asked "what if you add it to an established tank" and he said it would still be a help. What an
