Starting a 55 gallon aggressive tank, have a question about eels.

I have about 200 pounds of pea-sized crushed coral so I was wondering if can make a 2 inch bed with the crushed coral then add enough live sand until it fills in the gap and slightly covers the crushed coral. I plan on having lots of live rock.
I plan on buying a small snowflake eel as I know that they get as big as the tank allows them. Is there another kind of eel that I can buy that will do well in a 55 gallon and is fairly hardy?

Also, what other aggressive fish can I house with the eel?

I was thinking a zebra eel as they only eat crustaceans but they would need a tank bigger than a 55 gallon.

You shouldn't put another eel in a 55 besides a snowflake. You could go with dwarf lion fish, dwarf angel fish, you might be able to do a trigger but I wouldn't recommend it, some puffers could go in that tank.

I agree with IbanEz, even a snowflake will get pretty large. They need space to move between and under rock, which goes along with my next point of using a finer substrate like sand so they can burrow easier.
