I think Rykna may have been hitting the cider too hard, since she's now officially quoting herself. (And she didn't even invite the rest of us.....rasnfrasn....) but this might be the link she was GOING to post.

She lists out a lot of really good pony-related information on this thread....the BBS hatchery is esp. important if you're gonna be keeping these lil' guys!
You horse people are funny...thanks

Well....once you start caring for seahorses you kinda become a fish fanatic. Of all the fish available, besides octopi, seahorses take a lot of commitment to become a successful seahorse keeper. You will get the support and help you'll need for caring for seahorse, so you will get to know everyone here on the seahorse/ saltwaterfish forum. I've been a member here for almost 3 years. I do understand the complexities of the seahorse, which is why I am doing all my homework up front, I haven't even gotten the tank yet. I just know I want either a hex or corner tank, I would prefer horses but only if I can be successful with them, I don't want them dying because I did something wrong. I am committed to doing things the correct way and appreciate all the advice and help thus far.

some main things for healthy horses. By only healthy captive bred. Do not mix from differant souces. keep tanks at lower temps. 72 to 76 degrees, feed quality food. keep these things in mind and you should be fine.
Which species are you looking for?

I am up for suggestions, something hardy. I am not sure with seahorses, but I know with fish you should start with a hardier species so you have a larger space for mistakes.

most people start with either reidi, Kuda or Southern Erectus. All are about the same in thier care, as long as they are captive bred and not captive raised.

Cleve,
Not that I'm complaining or anything, but......
Why haven't you posted your tank pictures over on the full tank shot thread??? We need pics!
I was starting to worry that our seahorse crowd consisted of 4-5 people! I'd love to see a shot of the 55 gallon, and I know Rykna would love to see some more dwarf pony pics on the site! Grab the camera, man!!
ok...bear with because I'm not a photographer...lol...and a hex isn't the easiest tank to get a pic of
my little guys
