Starting an aquarium

Hey everyone,
Im new to this messageboard but this is the coolest one ive seen.:D
I have had a 55 galon aquarium for about 2 years and now I think i want to set another one up in my room. It is a 30 gallon tall and it has a carbon filter. I was planning on biulding a light hood for it. I wanted to keep invertebrates like shrimps and feather dusters and maybe an anemone. Im not sure what kind of fish but probably 2 percs or somethin. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas or suggestions on what kind of sand and live rock and fish to put in(pretty much the entire setup i should have.) I havnt started on it or anything so i would just like to hear some suggestions so i can sey up a succesful 30 gallon saltwater tank.
Thanks

WELCOME!
A 30 has a lot of potential, my suggestion would be look at the various tanks the members are keeping and chose a "theme". In the meantime there are several books to read. Three of my favorites are Corals by Bornneman, Invertabrates by Sprung, and Reef Secrets by a couple of swedish guys (I can't remember the names). There is also a book The Consiencious (sp) Aquarist which gets great reviews.
Is your 55 fresh or salt?
Good Luck!
