I HAVE A 46GALLON TANK WITH A HANG ON FILTER WILL THAT WORK . IVE TESTED THE WATER IT IS PH 8.2 TO 8.4 AMMONIA 0.50 NITRITE #2 0 NITRITE #3 0 BEEN RUNIING FOR TWO DAYS ANY ADVICE ON THE FILTER SHOULD ICHANGE

AND IM USING LIVE SAND

Well ive heard storys of people using HOB filters but they do frequent changes, but ive heard alot of people saying that a Sump/Refugium is better to use. But if I were you just invest in a Sump and later on down the road if you want you can convert your sump into a refugium.
The more experienced will come and help you more than I am haha but im just putting some input

Sorry for the very late reply but for your turnover rate you can go 10x the gallons of your tank if its FO and I think for Reef its 20x turnover rate.

i went and got 2 penguin 1140's power heads measured flow is 300 gph on each one is that to much for a 46 gallon tank

its a bristle worm. some are goo and some are not from what i hear.

they make a little tube that is used to trap it. im not sure how it works i have never used one before.
