ok i have thus far succeeded in rebuilding my tank 90 gal. its been a long process but ive learned alot, about pet stores and aggressive fish.
the plan is to go reef. ive built a 20 gal. refugium and bought a light fixture containing 2 250 w mh.having with led moon glow about 3-4'' LS and about 80lbs of LR
1 emerald crab
2 red/orange crab
a few doz. redleg/blue leg crabs
a blue star fish
1 sand sifting star
1 fox face
1 mandarin goby
1 blue tang
1 jawfish
7-8 misc snails. probably all turbo some big some smaller
besides all kinds of random little things popping up here and there, feather dusters and stuff im guessing.
i know i want to get a clown
and im picking up an orange goby later today
my question i guess is when i do start to go coral what would be good starting point. id like to have a decent variety.
also what fish would i be missing. i plan on getting some shrimp. and maybe an algae blenny of some sort. all suggestions welcome as to what you think i am missing/screwing up
thanks

so no thoughts on this set up ey. i understand its kinda boring reading posts that dont include a 775 gal lagoon build, but man some advice or thoughts would be cool.
these are sme of the soft corals im looking at
green lobo brain
purple tip frogspawn
green polyp toadstool
colt coral
devils hand leather.
i also as said would like to add an anenomie (no clue what kind, but nothing too big)
blue maxina clam/ or someother clam type
id want to have room for stony corals and frags, but thats a little further down the road.
since i put in the MH lights ive gotten s anasty algae bloom on the rocks and walls, but i think im getting that back under control, perhaps some more emerald crabs?
hook me up with some thoughts please, im addicted and need a salt water fix.

Now that you have the inevitable algae bloom, it is time for the CUC (clean up crew). Hermit crabs eat brown algae, emerald crabs eat the green. Look to the left of this page under Reef packages to get an idea of what you will need in a CUC to maintain a 90g.
I have a Kole tang for my 90g to eat algae..it is great.
Arrange your rock for coral as well, make some ledges or caves (both are great) not all coral wants or needs the bright lights. Get a stick and tie a ribbon to one end and move it throughout the tank, this will tell you how much water flow each area has. If you find any dead spots with no flow adjust your power heads. Coral feeds from the water current.
Now it is time for fish. Be VERY picky, the saying “so many fish in the ocean” NO KIDDING. What fish you choose will dictate what else you can add in the future.
For Example: I wanted to have sponges, they have lots of color and easy care…I also wanted an angel fish…Angels eat sponges so I had to choose which I wanted more.
I am posting a picture of a book that was the best purchase I ever made. I am also posting a page so you can see the type of info it contains.
