I currently have a 144 semi circle. I would like to spice thing up . I would like to start a small reef. What do I need for equipment, what kind of hardy coral/inverts, and are compaditable with the fish

Depends on what kind of corals you want to keep is what lights you will need. I would go metal halides or T5's and you can keep any coral. As far as that goes a skimmer would make things easier if your a beginner. I run my tank skimmerless but i do water changes every sunday and i keep everything clean. A refugium will help also.

The emperor angel will most likely eat corals, if the tank in the pic is the one your wanting to add corals too.

All corals are at risk with the angel, not sure about the gorgonian.
