starting up a 300g tank info on sand

Im just starting back into setting up my 300g tank need some info .. what kind of sand can i buy that doesnt cost a ton of money? someone told me about homedept having sand that i can use? im goung agg tank triggers and tangs i think .. what kind of rock should i get also??

as far as the sand from home depot, I've heard not to use it because you never know what the sand contains, it is "play safe" but not "tank safe" lol.

you could put in (non live) aragonite sand which is cheaper and will eventually become "live" once you add a little live rock or live sand, the more live you add the quicker this will happen
