I do feel the hit was not a cheap shot. I also beleive that there were some questionable calls and non-calls.
As much as I hate to say this....I think Pitt would have beaten the bengals regardless. They really turned up the D in the second half and Lewis appeared lost on the sidelines. Even if Palmer remained in the game the result I think would have been the same. The sad part is we will never know.
You had a great year. I actually picked Cincy in another thread to win...I went 3-1 in playoff first round predictions....Pitt got me.
I know you' re mad...as soon as the resluts of that hit were known the chances for victory were carried off the field with the player.
thanks scub. didn't mean to come off so abrasive. when you've been a dedicated season ticket holder for 8 years and all that hope turns to dust it hits you like a ton of bricks. Maybe next year :joy: go reds

I know what it feels like. As a New Orleans Saints fan I have expereinced many a bad season and many disappointing losses. We have only won ONE playoff game in franchise history.
When I lived there I had season tickets....always wondered why I did that to myself....torture
At least you guys made it this year. You'll be better next year.

See, this is what bothers me. Palmer got hit , Palmer's outa the game, but it was never "Pittsburg versus Palmer". When the second string came in they are still the Bengals. So the bottum line logic is that, with or without Palmer, the Steelers still beat the Bengals.
I hate how everybody keeps saying, if Palmer wasn't hurt they woulda won or had a better chance, the whole "what-if" logic should NEVER be applied in sports, you could simply drive yourself insane.
And as far as Pittsburg throwing cheap shots...they always have. As long as I can remember. No, that doesn't make it right, but it does make it something the Bengals should have been better prepared for.
I'm not a pittsburg fan or a cincy fan either, which is what makes it easier for me to see this game as simply " Pitt vs Cincy" Instead of Pitt vs Palmer.

If Manning with the Colts or Brady with the Pats got injured in a game it would make each team less effective. Palmer is a key player both in the NFL and with Cincy. Take him out of the game and the Bengals are not the same team and not as good.
I'll debate that issue all the way to Canton, Ohio.

Your right, they are not the same team and definately not as good, but they are still the Bengals. A worse Bengals true, but still the Bengals. And the bottum line any way you look at it is that the "Bengals" got beat.
I believe the score woulda been different id he had stayed in the game, they may have even won. But then I could under the same logic argue that the Steelers were cheated cause they were away. Many thingsa affect the way a team plays but the bottum line is, in the end it is still team against team.
What I'm curious to know is IF Palmer didn't get hurt and IF the Steelers still won, which one individual act would have been responsible for the injustice then??? You know, hypathetically speaking...

Part of the regular season is to determine playoff teams in the end plus seeding. Have a higher seed and you have a greater chance of playing a home game or even wining home field advantage throughout.
I would not agree with someone being cheated because they had to play a road game in the playoffs. Seeding in the playoffs is earned not given away.
Yes, I agree it is still team against team......but a team which loses a starting QB early is now playing with less ammo.
Some teams with stronger defenses and special teams can sometimes pick up the slack for a game or so should a key player get injured or one phase has a bad game . Cincy had no such strong defense as I beleive they finshed the season ranked #28. A good example of this was Bucs/Skins. Brunell is obviously still hurting. The Skins were unable to move the ball but the defense was able to pick it up, score 7 and set-up the offense for another 7. But, they'll not continue to win should their offense continue with no effedtive output.
IMO...in the end I do beleive Pitt still would have won regardless of the injury.

Not only did palmer get hurt but also chris henry one of our leading receivers. that would be like taking out big ben and heinz ward. I think the same loss on the steelers bench would seriously affect the outcome of the play-off game
