Stevebk's NanoCube

Alright, everyone. I'm curious how my NanoCube stacks up against everyone else that has one. I'm going to post the most recent pictures I have- please feel free to add to mine and tell us about what you've got.
As for mine, it's a jbj NanoCube, running stock with 24 watts of pc lighting in a custom fit hood. It has about 8 lbs live rock and a cc substrate. The fish are an oscellaris clownfish, sixline wrasse, and yellow clown goby. I'll post pictures of the corals after the full tank shots.

The star polyp and green mushroom rock from above. Those crazy fish thought they were going to get fed, and blocked the shot! :)

Brown Button Polyps- these showed up on the live rock. At first my girlfriend and I though they were sponges; they didn't open for like 3 weeks, and there were only 3 of them. And now...

Here's one that's kinda blurry, but you can see the pagoda cup and the two leathers- all rescue projects.

Nice!:D How long has your tank been set up? What are your nitrates? Does your sixline wrasse move alot? The reason why I'm asking these ??s is because I am gonna get a sixline wrasse in about 2 weeks.
Thanx and awsome tank!

what type of pump is that in the upper right corner? Also have you had any trouble with your branching hammer, as far as having enough lighting? the reason that i ask, is that i have retrofitted a dual 24w 50/50 light setup, so in total i have 48w's.I will post some pic as soon as i can figure out my camera. If you know anyone who would be intrested in this setup, i would install it for them. and it would be alot cheaper then what i've found on the net. My mom is a operations manger for a large lighting and electrical company. So i get discounts and help from electricens.

Thanks for the compliments!
Daredevil- The sixline wrasse is awesome! He's maybe the most beautiful fish I've ever had- it seems like his colors just keep getting brighter. I'd definitely recommend one to anyone, as long as their water is good, and cycled- I've had friends tell me they're easier to kill than clowns and such. And my nitrates stay really low, usually undetectable with my kit- I think the caulerpa helps with that, I notice that it grows like crazy when I haven't done water changes in a while.
Po Bear- that pump is a Rio mini powerhead. I think it's rated around 50 gph, nothing too spectacular. I point it upward to agitate the surface a bit more- I figure extra oxygen can't do anything but help. The branching hammer seems to do fine under 24W of pc light, but it seems to really be carnivorous- every time I add food to the water, its tentacles go crazy catching the particles. I think it's compensating for the lower light by eating more of the foods. I'd love to hear more about/see pictures of your retrofit- if you'd like to ship to AZ, I'm all about more lighting! :D I'll attach a picture of the powerhead so you can see it better.

hey steve, thank you for telling me what powerhead you use, i'm hoping my tanks cycle will end soon. As far as mounting the powerhead, do you mount it over the stock hole or what. And i'm very sorry, but i forgot to tell you what an great tank you have. as far as the lighting goes, shipping to AZ, no problem. With my mom being an operations manger at a major lighting and electrical company. Bulbs, ballast, and shipping are no problem. I hope to have the pics in a day or so. For the same retrofit that i did, the cheapest i could find on the net was like $200, and all it was, was them sending it to you. and you had to do it your self. I'm willing to install it with everything forabout half that. but anyways, gotta go, talk at ya later

I might also be getting a piece of light purple Hydnophora (?? not positive on ID) too, but I'll have to see how it does at the store first.

Thanks guys!
Nudibranch- sorry I didn't get to respond to your email. I've got a star polyp frag about the size you mentioned before- about an inch by a half inch. If your frags come through, I'd like to trade, otherwise, you can have it for a few bucks if you'll pick it up. I'll get ahold of you after I figure out my schedule tomorrow.
Po Bear- Awesome! I can't send you my light hood to install the thing, otherwise my corals would be very angry with me. However, I'm sure we can work things out eventually through the mail. If you would, please email me at stevenb@u.arizona.edu with your email address where you can be reached, and I'll contact you as soon as I can afford that upgrade. Also- that pump is not installed over the output of the other. I put it right under the hole from the stock pump, and aimed it up and to the side so that it goes at the surface but doesn't splash too much, and also doesn't interfere with the straight flow of the main one. Hope that answers your question.

Well I came home and my Xenia was toast. No idea whats going on. Testing my water ASAP. I'll keep you up to date through email when I'm up and running again. I might have to offer you $$ for theGSPs but I'll be getting zoosthat I'll frag after they take off in my tank.

Nudibranch-
Sorry to hear about your tank. Hope everything gets up and running soon. Don't worry about the stars- I have 'em, and they're not going anywhere. Just email me. Best of luck.

Steve, the 6th picture from the bottom of the page, is that Xenia?
If so how do you find this coral for growing and ease of care in the tanks?
