Still no Ammonia spike

hello everyone,
I have had my LR in the tank for 2 months now. The whole time I had 0 ammonia and NitrAtes of 4.0. So I finally bought 3 shrimp and through them in 2 weeks ago. I just tested the water and realized I was doing the AMM test wrong. I corrected it and it is still Ammonia 0, NitrAte 4.0
My question is could I have missed my spike in that 2 weeks?
I put 3 jumbo prawns in a 110gal. How long would that take to spike?
thanks matt

You should have seen some kind of spike. I used a jumbo prawn on my 90 to cycle, man did it spike.
I would have the local fish store test it if possable or check the date on your test kit and possably get a new one.

Well I'd say its possible if you took those prawns out. But it would take a week or so for them to decompose and your ammonia should have shot threw the roof during that time. Also you would be knee deep in the NitrIte phase by now, that should last about three weeks itself.
Three large prawns in a 110 should also have had you opening every window in the house by now.
How much live rock did you put in?
