Hi I just purchased an Atlantic Sting Ray, very small, probably only 4-5 inch disk, but very healthy, I was just curious as to what I should feed him, how often and how to actually get him to eat? thanks please help I really love this sting ray and I want to make sure he's happy just like all the rest of my fish, thanks :D

Next time don't purchase a ray(or any fish) without researching the animal first. I'm not very familliar with atlantic rays but I'm pretty sure they will eat that same thing as the other species, which is things like frozen shrimp, silversides, squid, etc.

what kind of tank do you have him in & what other fish are in w/ him? you could use a feeding stick; from what I have seen of rays, they can also learn to eat from your hand as well...

yeah I really want him to eat out of my hand but right now I try and wedge it under him or stand it up in the sand, then he ate a few, he's relatively small like 3-4in disk. he's happy though he's sooo cool :D  :) <img src="graemlins//silly.gif" border="0" alt="[silly]" />

Feed him once every-other day.

we feed ours every other day...
we put a silver side between our fingers...

we feed him always at the same time... Dusk

o.k wait a second.. are you sure its an atlantic stingray?? Dasyatis sabina?
if so they like bracksih water as well as full blown saltwater they are actually usually sold as freshwater rays... there a great ray because thay are small, but they are hard ot get to eat if they are males.. about 50% wont eat but it looks liek hes eating.. also they have to be fed once a day.. they are prone to fluke and parasites so if this happens slowly drop your salinity over a few weeks and it will shake them since they do like brackish waters..
whats ize tank is he in? make sure the substrate is VERY fine so they dont scratch themseleves and get infections.. also minimal rockwork in the tank so he has room to roam....
good luck with him!
