My tank is a 90 gal, water parameters are good. Im hoping he's just adjusting still. I've gotten to where he actually floated above my palm but wouldn't take. Then I tried putting food on the bottom and he actually hovered right above it sitting for atleat a full minute and then moved on. Like I said I think he is just a little nervous. I have noticed a population of bristle worms has emerged and I set out a trap this morning and caught three little ones during morning feeding. Also I do have one of those electric probes. My qustion with that is, is there a way to test that its working. Several months ago I noticed my yellow tang not looking right, so I added the probe and a small sliver of orange for him to nibble on. I also soaked his food in garlic. Three to four days and never a problem since, but I don't know what of these things was the solution. Again, is there any way to test for electricity in the tank?

thanx cartman.like stated before hes in my refuge for now till he gets large enough for a main display tank .my sump fuge set up dementions are 48x24x19 he has 12 of the 24 for now he is small maybe 4-5 inches but he has the water flow of the entire set up that is for a 120 reef he has the fuge all to himself shared with macro algae and pulsing xania frags a few snails.nothing to stress him out at all. here is a pic of the complete set up

Do you really think a stingray can live in a 120 gallon reef... full of liverock???
Your stingray would be better off in your fuge (which is also grossly undersized for it)! Not a good idea.

for his size at this time the fuge is just fine for him and no I do not intend to keep him in my reef the reef is one of 4 other tanks I own.when hes bigger I will move him into another tank but while hes small and somewhat fragile hes in the best place possable.I also have 125 agressive 90 FOWLER and 75 gal which at this time Im using to cure LR.I do my research before I purchase any species to make sure I can meet its requirements.I also do plan on upgrading to a larger tank moving my fish around then is not a problem for me.this species is fragile I am making sure to the best of my ability that he is not harrasssed or picked at ..so please before jumping to your own conclusions as to where people plan to keep or care for their fish ask dont assume you know the answer.and as you can see from pic posted above hes huge can barely move in this tank.

and as for calylove WE would be more likely to get a better picture of whats going on if you give us all the details of your tank. the demnsions of it the actual results of a test just taken for all peramiters of the water , what is the tank set up like,What other fish you haveand how big they are , how offten your trying to feed your ray and what you are trying to feed the ray when you are doing it. what kind of lighting you have, what does the ray look like physically(is it looking too skinny does it look pale ? the more info we have the more likely we will be able to help you.

Yes indeed....I agree. Few are critical of tank size though I believe it COULD be an issue. People are trying to solve this problem, not "hate on" anyone.

The fact is this:
The animal is not eating and obviously this is not normal. No thumbs up. :(
So therefore, we should investigate ALL possible reasons for it to be having trouble. To do this, lets cover SPECIFIC water parameters (get yourself a pat on the back if they are fine, but without listing them you may be overlooking something). Substrate type. Have you ever used copper in the tank? What are you trying to feed?
FWIW, I worked in a aquarium and personally cared for about 10 fresh and saltwater stingrays. Feeding whole squid bought from a grocery is fine. There is no problem feeding this (I did ALL THE TIME). Just clean it and cut into appropriately sized pieces. Buying frozen whole squid is A LOT cheaper and last A LOT longer than buying pieces from an LFS.

I will have to retest late tonight...
Last test yesterday ph-8.0
salinty1.023
temp-78-80.
Other tank mates are one perc, one yellow tang, one green wolf eel, misc snails, crabs, one common anemone, two small coral frags, and apparently a new group of brislte worms. Everything else seems to be thriving. I have been trying to feed him every evening with thawed raw scallops. I had tried krill but he didnt take either. I have been dropping a small piece on the ground right in front of him and he actually was resting right on it. Kind of looked like he was nibling tonight but thats it. He also seems very "unmotivated" He usually swims around a lot but not so much tonight. I noticed him kind of flip out twice, like really jolt himself and then swim away. There was also two small pieces of scallop when I left that I noticed were gone when I came home that maybe he ate. Do they act real tired after eating. Im really getting worried now.

But what about ammonia, nitrite, nitrate?
Also, what is the "goal" of this tank? It seems to have a little bit of everything, which often (not always) but often means that nothing really gets specifically what it needs to thrive. Corals tend to need very good water quality and lighting (also higher salinity) but adding predators to the tank can mean less pristine water quality. How old is the tank?
There are no issues overall with bristleworms...they are very efficient and active scavengers and are not an issue, IMO, with a healthy animal in most cases.
I think I remember you saying you DO have a ground probe in the tank?
