I am wondering which of these stingrays gets smaller. And which is hardier/easier to feed. Are they compatible with other aggressive fish? What is the smallest shark availible? How big does it get? I am looking to start an aggressive tank. Lastly, what is the smallest tank size for the ray, and the smallest for the shark. Thanks! http://www.fishdomain.com/fishindex....cies=stingrays

smallest shark is the bamboo shark family or the catshark family. they get about 40 inches and minumum tank size is 180 but should be bigger. i haven't owned sharks or rays but that is some basic info and please don't get a shark till u are 100% sure you can take care of it

Yeah, sorry for the wasted thread... but I was reading around, and right now I dont think I will be able to give a shark what it needs. plus I am going to wait until I get a 220g. For now I think I will stick with an Octo. At least until I upgrade. But I will be reading all day everyday about sharks and rays! I, with no doubt in my mind, have never seem anything more spectacular than these pics of sharks and rays. it is basically my dream to keep them. Do you guys have any pics of your set-ups? Maybe a video?

i dont know that much about them but those are the "little" sharks swimming below the bellies of "gigantic" sharks to catch all the leftover food. Great partnership they have with large sharks, but i dont know if you can house one alone??

Yeah, but that is still pretty big. I know my tank is waaaaaay to small for a normal shark. Thats why I am asking about really small ones.

Ok, then I will just wait. My tank is a 100g. I want the best for the shark when I get it, so I will wait until I get my 220.

as for shark and rays the smallest is of course the bamboo depending on which species you get I have the spotted bamboo I have also had a cali ray unfortunaly he passed away due to an accident(flipped out of his tank onto my filter media)the tank size for either one is 180 gal also depending on species.they are very messy eaters maticulous husbandry is a must to keep them in a proper enviroment .if purchase young feeding can be quite time consuming at least 2 times per day.they can be varasous eaters I have found the older my shark gets the more active he becomes.I dont reccomend either of these species unless you are willing and have the time to be very attentive to them if you are not home alot or have to depend on others to care for your tanks alot .or cannot meka sure they have proper variety in the diet.dont get one or the other.but you have time and the space to basicly be mom to them and make sure you are on top of things religously .they are cool to watch and feed.I love mine.
ps bamboo sharks are bottom feeders they require crustations and meaty foods .I feed mine chopped squid, mysis shrimp ,very small silverslides, krill, and small chunks of raw shrimp.
