stinky zooplankton

I know alot of you have probablly used zooplankton. I got the stuff in the refrigerated part. well anyway after using it maybe 4- 5 weeks it started stinking really bad the first jar i got did that and i didn't get it for a long time. but recently decided to try it again and i got half way through it and it started stinking again and i mean bad stinky. the guy at the lfs said it doesn't go bad do any of you know if it does or not i'm afraid to feed it to my fish. and if it does go bad could that crash your tank. cause I lost everything in mine except 3 fish and a feather duster. and my rose bta is still there

I had some really stinky DT's I threw it out, I didnt want to take ANY CHANCES, even though it was only like 3 weeks old, THe package says it stinks, but to me it was like pouring DIRECT nitrate right into my tank.. forget it, im sticking to oyster eggs and froxen cyclopeeze.

Not sure what brand you're using, but I have the Kent ZooPlex and mix that with PhytoPlex and don't keep either refrigerated. Neither smells any bit unusual either and I've been using the same bottles for about 3 months. You could always try Cyclop-eeze too, I use that too, just to mix things up a bit.

They will always smell nasty because some are dead and stinking it up, when it's so bad you can't stand to smell it, it's probably useless. Are you keeping it at the right temp?

I use the same stuff and had one do that. I tossed mine, I didn't what to take the chance.
