Stock list for 55 gal

just compiled my complete stocklist of my new 55gallon. Currently waiting on it to finish cycling. Let me know if this looks to be a decent stock list and if you can foresee any issues between what I have here.

- yellow watchman goby +pistol shrimp
- 1 ocellaris clown
- 1 green chromis
- 1 valentini puffer
- 1 orchid dottyback
- 1 lawnmower Blenny

Obviously a clean up crew before anything.

I don't know about the other fish but you really should read up on the Valentini Puffer. I don't think it's a good choice but that's just me.

Go to the saltwaterfish.com store and look up the Valentini Puffer and read the description and you'll see that it's not.

Right... I read that on websites but then I read on forums and in personal experience that the valentini puffer doesn’t really bother many fish or corals. So hard to say. Lots of people have had success with the valentini and other fish. Corals won’t come for a while so I wouldn’t be too worried about that

And you do need to watch it around inverts. Shrimp, etc.

Maybe I’ll try adding him last? Not sure what would be the best method. I don’t want to cause problems obviously. But if other people do it there has to be a way

I have the above mentioned puffer. With fish its perfectly fine keeps to its self. Mostly fine w crabs and snails. Now shrimp on the other hand, no lol i had to feed my dwarf lion ghost shrimp at first. Any he didn't eat the puffer did with gusto. Corals idk about. He's not in a reef tank. He is with a yellow tail damsel,clown,mandarin,and dwarf lion

Lol np silver. Alot of mixing sw fish is a crap shoot. I can give you my personal experience but i make no guarantees

Would a pair of clowns instead of one be too much?

Depends who you ask lol. Myself no i think your fine. I have 3 diff tanks w 3 diff clown types. None bother new fish and all stay with in about 2ft area. Even in my 6ft tank

Depends on the kind of clown. Oscelaris or percula would work fine. Most others I wouldn’t even try a pair.

Agreed w above. Also they must be the same type of clown to pair. I really like maroon clowns but unless u have a local breeder pairing is almost impossible. Plus they can be a more aggressive clown.

I agree about sticking to Occ or Percula clowns, the rest can be unholy terrors not only to each other but to the rest of your tank mates as well (the Tomato Clown is arguably the worst of the bunch). I also would avoid the puffer for a different reason. If the puffer becomes very stressed it can release a toxin which will kill everything in the aquarium. That simple fact was enough to put me off of ever owning one.
