Hey guys! I am starting to stock my 75 reef (wannabe) and want to know what you think of my tankmate ideas.
Right now I have:
1 cleaner shrimp
1 emerald crab
10 or so hermit crabs
10 or so snails
1 urchin
green star polyps
a small zoo colony
acro frag
The fish I want to eventually have:
Sailfin Tang
Powder Blue Tang
Blue Spot Jawfish
Clownfish
3 or 5 Green Chromis
Purple Firefish Gobie
Naso Tang
What do you guys think??
Jess

Well I dont know about a sailfin tang fitting in a 75 gallon but I think you might want to make your CUC a little larger a fair rule for CUC is 1 peice of CUC for every gallon... so 75 gallon should have around 60 or 75 CUC items in there JIMO

ok great. I have been adding about 10 cuc everythime i go to the store. I dont have any fish right now, so i figured i would not put more cuc than i had food source for them. i definitly plan to add more cuc this week. probably more than 75. Thanks for pointing that out! Might get those 5 chromis or do 3 chromis and another fish off my list. I will add about 20 more cuc at that point. Any advice on that??? (which other fish would be a good one to add woth the chromis??)

i just wanted to tell you that ocropora is one of the hardest corals to keep in the aquarium. they typically need pristine water conditions and extremely powerful lightin like metal halide or T5. if you want to have an sps I would go with one of the pagoda cups.

Well if you add CUC it dosent count for the bio-load cause the fact that they clean up all the detritius and such
But Nass are good for sandbed stirrers and clean up the sand bed
I think turbos clean the glass and rocks
Scarlets are better than Blue Legged Hermits ive heard because the scarlets are more docile and the Blue Legged kill the snails just for the shells

none of those tangs will work. the only tangs you can have in that size tank is chevron, koles, MAYBE a yellow, thats all i can think of but you can only have one tang for that size.

You can add a few crabs of your choice and shrimps, but wait on the emerald crab and cleaners shrimp until your tank matures, Emerald Crabs needs algae and the cleaner shrimp needs really clear conditions in a tank and no fluctuations or it'll die

Only if he has the algae. theres no rule for CUC. you just get what you want to eat what algae you have. way to many people go by a rule for CUC and its not good to do that cause you end up getting to many and starving them. so you just get a few at a time

ok so i got the batteries but cant find the darn cord to connect to my computer.....never ending i tell ya.
I went to my lfs today and picked up 3 turbos. Hopefully they will start to work on that algae. We'll see. Also dropped in a firefish, cleaner shrimp, and mushroom. Firefish was a few days ago. No chromis, the ones my lfs got came in with some red areas on them so he is not selling. Has em in QT to see what happens. I didnt even notice the red until he pointed a little spot on one of em. Good LFS. He actually cares about my tank.
