The 1" per whatever number of gallons "rule" is totally old, and inaccurate. Look at it this way: say you have six 1" gobies versus a 6" lionfish...the six gobies will be nowhere close to the same bioload as the lionfish. One needs to consider the mass of the fish, their swimming habits, feeding habits, and their adult size, none of which fits into a hard, fast rule.
The six-line is likely to end up being a real PITA once it matures a bit...they can be fine, but generally get fairly nasty.
The gramma and the dottyback look almost the same and will go at it...pick one or none.
The firefish will hide a lot, esp at first.

Here is a rule that will help you when choosing fish. Don't put fish together with the same body type or color. If you add a fish that feeds on copepods..... as a rule (there are always exceptions) don't add more than one of them.
