What is the general rule for stocking a fish tank with fish. Is it 1 inch of fish for every 10 gallons of water? Less? More?

from what i gather here ther are two opinions 1 inch of fish for every 2 gal. and 1 inch of fish for every 5 gal. not sure but i think it is a bioload issue as your more aggressive type meat eater fish the 5 gal. rule just my opinion others will clarify better for you good luck

sorry, there is no rule, imo. it depends on your set up and what fish you get.
Example, if you have a good amount of lr, good filtrations, ect, you'll be able to have more fish. Your tank will tell you....but,
if you're fighting high nitrates, you may be overstocked.
Plus some fish like lots of swimming room and don't get along with others...some fish stay at the top, others stay at the bottom, some swim all around...
depends on your tank and what fish you want.
