Stocking questions

40 gal tank, 3' long, 18" deep and high, how many small fish can be kept in there? I have a bta, a cc star, 2 Occellaris clowns and 2 chromis, 4 small snails. Am I overstocked? Can I put in a few more snails or hermit crabs, to keep the sand stirred up and clean? I am getting brown spots on my sand, that just sit on the surface. I've attached a pic...

Snails and hermits are a good thing imo.....i do not beilieve they cause a bio load so there for as long as u have enough for them to eat so on and so forth you should be alright.......i would wait and see what others chime in on for fish and suck im not to sure when it comes down to smallers tanks sorry? :happyfish
