My boyfriend & I have a 55g tank and we'd like to get ourselves a new fish as a little post present after the holidays. We been throwing a few ideas around, I'd like a copperbanded butterfly but the tanks a little too small and he'd like a wrasse of some sort - he's always pointing out blueheads, carpenters & lunar wrasses but I'm not a 100% convinced they'd leave the other inhabitants in our tank alone. I was hoping you guys could throw in some ideas of fish that we may not have thought of that would play nicely with our current stock.
We currently have a goldstripe maroon, a bicolored blenny, a sixline & 2 green clown gobies.. As far as inverts and corals we have a fire shrimp, a serpent star, 2 emerald crabs, a strawberry crab, a few anemones, some frogspawn, a leather coral and a galaxea frag along with our small cleanup crew of hermits and snails. SOMEDAY I plan on adding a orangeback basslet too..
If there's one of the larger wrasses that can play nice I should look into please let me know! I'd like to compromise [actually I'd like to give in and get a pinstripe
]. Any thoughts on butterflies, hogfish, anything really would also be appreciated. =)

CBB are pretty difficult to keep and grow to 8 inches I think so I would scratch this one. Wrasses are going to be tough with your sixline already in there. Have you looked into hawkfish at all? Some will eat small fish and shrimp but a longnose should work. Royal gramma would get along with everything, the basslet you like should be fine, cardinals would work, I think most hogfish get really big. If you try another wrasse make sure it's a reefsafe kind which is mostly flashers and fairys.
