I have a strange problem
In the last year when buy a new fish...no matter whit it is if they don't eat flake food in the first few days they die. The same fish will chow down on brine, frozen and live but wont touch the flakes. I have brought back a dozen or so to LFS because of this problem (aftre losing three ) Has anyone else had this problem or should I bel ooking harder at the fish I buy?

Maybe you should check w/LFS to see what they are feeding their fish before you buy. Perhaps you could buy some of the same food to keep them from starving, then offer flakes or what ever slowly

I have.. Brine mostly and some pellet and flake. The odd thing is I only deal with one LFS and some eat flake the day I bring them home others wont touch it.

How big of a tank? ALso with amonina being .25 is a little high. Also if they dont eat flake then you need to feed them what they will eat. Thats a smart idea if they eat mystic or brine or anything else like shrimp then feed them that. Why feed them flake? I mix a bunch of seafood up and put flake in it but dnt just feed them flake food? In the wild do you see flake food in there diet? Just my .02 dont take it wrong but you might want to get some books and do a little bit of reasearch on what you buy.

When I purchase anything, I always have them feed it first and purchase whatever the livestock has been eating in the store. Then always offer a variety at home.

That is usually a good idea.
I don't ever feed my fish flake, so I don't have this problem. My fish look at me like I am crazy if I ever try to give them flake.

i also don't feed my one and only fish flake. he's a false percula... i tried flake food once, and i swear he got mad at me! lol. he nibbled a piece then he went nuts swimming back and forth in the front of the tank like he was all peeved that i'd even try to feed him that stuff. so i got some color-enhancing stuff from my mom but i don't remember what it's called... :notsure:

Try changing what you feed them ... I never feed flake either to my fish.
Go with Frozen Foods ... Tangs should have formula 2 and I would mix it with Mysis Shrimp or Brine shrimp ...
Most of my fish LOVE krill(larer shrimps) as well ...

My fish love frozen food. There is just such variety in it, and I would think it just tastes better to them.
