First, some information about my tank:
90 gallon UniQuarium, sand, live rock in main tank, coral rubble in back chambers.
This is essentially a new aquarium, and I'm new to the hobby.
I bought and added the live rock (about 85 pounds) yesterday. When I checked the parameters this evening, this is what I found:
ammonia --0
nitrite--0.25
nitrate--somewhere between 5 and 10--I have a hard time telling the difference on the color chart
temp--79 degrees F
salinity--1.021
I'm really very confused--I was expecting the ammonia to spike first, then the nitrite followed by the nitrate. I tested them all again just to make sure.
Does anyone have a clue what's going on here and what I can do about it?
