Strange sounds coming from tank...

You are all going to think I am crazy but this is for real...it is a 10 gallon nano...there is a strange chirping sound coming from it...not a clicking like you mention...like a mantis..but a purring chirping sound...I have blue legs (soon to be homeless) and red legs...what could this be...I added about 5 lbs of crud from my local lfs live rock holding tank and everyday this tank has new stuff coming out of the wordwork....any guesses?

I've never heard of that sound being mentioned before. Could it be noise from a pump, filter or powerhead?
You've probably already thought of that; but, just in case!!

until I unplugged everything and still heard it..probably should have mentioned that huh...could it be a hermit? I would swear it was a red legged reef hermit..he was the only one near the point of origin...

Put him in a small contianer with saltwater, and put him in a another part of the room- if the sound moves with him- BINGO- you have your culprit.... if not, keep lookin :)

cool..Buzz..thanks...i hope he keeps it up..it is loud enough that it can be hear if you are anywhere near the tank...neat
