strange stuff in my tank

so I have this stuff in the substrate... I'm sure its an algae of some type but I don't know what it is or how to get rid of it.
It looks like brown snot (slimy) that strings and stretches with the current.
I also have this green hair algae...

What can I use to get rid of this stuff?

The slimy stuff on your sand is cyano bacteria, its happens to all new tanks. Just syphon it out when you do your next water change.

Is this a new tank? If so do what the above poster said to do. How long are yiu running your lights for?
