Strange white dots???

Can anyone tell me what this is: small white dots multiplying in my tank. I've got some purple and green algea, and that's ok. I've got a Clown, Eibli, Koran & goby. A cleaner shrimp and some hermits. (all the creatures are ok) I can scrape them off the tank with a few tries (which makes me think they are some kind of calcification) I've got one or two very tiny pieces of live rock (used to seed the tank originally) Any suggestions as to what they may be???
Thanks,
Den

I was wondering this myself, and that picture is exactly what it looks like when I look at them through my magnifying glass! What is it? What is it? :D

I can't give you the scientific name, but it is a tube worm that builds its calcium tube in that spiral shape as it grows. Harmess filter feeder, very commonly found in sumps.

yes they are harmless and they filter out trace elemnts and calcium and stuff like that i believe bu t i am not possitive
i dont see any need to remove them unless the are disturbing the view of the tank
i dont know of any predators but someone else may
