Stranger in my nano tank.

I have a 4 year old 10g reef tank that has a few simple corals and polyps in it (it was once densely populated and gorgeous... but is coming back from a period of neglect).
Anyways... now that it was a new steward... me... I thought I'd ask if anyone knew what the heck this thing was. It is gray in color and telescopes around the rock (it doesn't appear fixed). It regularly releases a burst of sand and silt from it's visible end. It is about half a centimeter in diameter.
It's cool, but what is it? I've scoured the web and have yet to find any answers. I will try to add a photo below.

I thought maybe it was... but it doesn't look like the photos on the web. I thought it might be a verm. snail but doubt that too.
I don't have any fish and it doesn't appear to be bothering my corals... so I'll just let it be.
