Stray Voltage?

I've had my aquarium set up for just under a year now, recently my blue tang has been developing what looks like MHLLE. I checked my water conditions and everything appears to be in a good range, with the saltinity being a little high. I read that a cause could also be stray voltage. My question is how much voltage is to much? I tested my tank with everything powered off and had a reading of .003. I then turned on everything and had a reading of .388. I found that my heater producing the stray voltage, but could a .385 increase in voltage be that much of a concern?

How are you testing to get that reading? And what instrument are you using??
If I were you, I would pull the plug on the heater and test it again. If your readings are lower, then you can assume that the heater may be causing the issue.
One reason I am asking, because some meters are kind of flaky or you also my have something else backfeeding on your ground.

wow, funny how things happen. i was working on my tank before getting on here, i got the crap shocked out of me, when putting my hand on the side of my tank. going tomarrow to get a tester.
one of my fish is acting wierd , thats why i decided to mess with my tank.

I might be goin out on a limb here but if you touched tank and it shocked you why would you need a tester, shouldnt that be enough for you to know that you got stray voltage somewhere?
Heres a idea...keep touching it and have a partner unplug things one ata time. When you quit screaming he/she will know they found the problem !!

Im just mesin with ya by the way, hope you figure it out quick and easy!

no thats actully what i did. my wife unplugged them one by one. she was laughing at me cause i keeped jumping and cussing..
. the sad thing is i got shocked everytime. i dont understand. we unpluged everything but i still got shocked.. i going to get a tester a see whats going on.. the finger test is not that accurate
