I bet those rammed places stay nice and cool. Up in Montana the big foo foo environmental fad was hay bail houses.

I dunno if you can do that in that area. The ground is clay based, and will expand and contract quite drastically...

You just use a standard foundation. A rammed earth house can be built anywhere a frame house can be-and alot of places frame home can't.
