stress from canopy

I know this might seem like a stupid question, but does having a canopy cause stress on the glass and seams? I just added a canopy to my 210 and was reading on SWF about tanks blowing seams, so I thought that I would ask. The canopy that I added has supports on the 2 sides and the front panel, they do not run the whole length tho.

I've never heard of damage to a tank because of a canopy. Almost everybody has canopies that rest on the tank rim. I have two and both of them support Metal Halide ballasts which are very heavy. They've been there for eight years with no problem.

right now just the parts that I removed from my odyysea PCs are mounted in there. trying to save the money up for halides. just seems like a lot of weight resting on it.
