I got my fang blenny yesterday and ive fed the tank twice with mysis, and flakes but the blenny didnt eat. I realize it may just be a little stressed, but i was wondering if they need anything speacial to there diet.
Omnivore so will eat both meaty and vegetative foods. What did they feed it in the fish store? Takes a few days for a fish to get settled in and start eating sometimes. Just keep trying some different things. Add a little garlic juice to the food to help entice it to eat.
i noticed it picking at the rocks, so i guessing its been eat algea or pods. I havnt been home for two days because im out of town right now but im coming home today so ill see how its doing
i got back and looked at the blenny and it has a thin white string type thing hanging from its butt. Its maybe an inch long and i think i read that generally means something is wrong, any info will help

and now its gone
Its been a week, and the blenny hasn't eaten anything i put in the tank, it looks kind of thin and im starting to worry a little, im trying to feed it mysis with garlic and ocean nutrition prime reef flakes, any help would be greatly appreciated
ora captive raised fang blennies (they rear a few different species) eat prepared readily but even they arent aggressive eaters and do alot of liverock hunting. they eat almost like trained maderins (look at it for a minute to decide if they want to try it but a little more quickly). I had a pair and was overfeeding like crazy so the other fish wouldn't eat their share and they ate but still slowly withered away.
Wild fang blennies may need to be weaned onto frozen as they are notorious for only eating live (not as bad as manderins but probably right there with scooter dragonets). they hunt the rocks for pods so you may want to try off the shelf pods or small phyto dosing to increase population. try smaller frozen food like san franciso bay "reef" plankton or other coral food size zooplankton (not too small like rotifiers). I have a canary fang blenny now but its in a biocube with just a firefish so food competition isn't an issue but I just got him so I'm working on the feeding just like you. I figured after trying the ora pair I'd give it another shot since I believe the tank and stock give me a better shot at succeeding.

do you think it would go for live brine, or maybe ghost shrimp?
brine is worth a shot. dont know where to find ghost shrimp small enough. live pods sould be best though obviously most difficult if not impossible to do long term. For now I'd how yours (and mind) are finding food from the live rock. make sure you add a small amount of prepared food with the live.
mine kicked the bucket so needless to say my last attempt at fang blennies (even though I've only tried yellow canary fang blennies which arent the boldest of fang blennies).
I hatched brine shrimp and tried to feed it to the fish but the blenny just doesnt show intrest in them. How can i make it realize that the brine shrimp is food?
im not so sure the fish is going to make it, the blenny is getting really thin and i only have one more idea, and thats to put it an a tank with a miniatus grouper, but that tank has a ton of copepods and amphipods. And i wont be able to do that until monday when i get home from my cottage.
