you dont have to shut it off. but i do unplug mine. take the collection cup, and the lid off. and rinse them with hot water, and use a old toothbrush to get the crude off. and every couple weeks take the main body off and clean it the same way...
cool, thanks. I wasn't sure and it hadn't had enough in it to worry about. It still doesn't have much, but it's getting kina gunky. How often should I replace the filter thing in it?
the white filter u will know when to replace it will start to place small micro bubbles into the tank. that is the function of that pad is to reduce the micro bubbles from the skimmer
